Deceased Name: PLAISANCE, LARRY JOHN
Retired from Kaiser Chemicals and LaRoche Chemical and Operating Engineers Local 216, he died March 27, 2002, at the age of 75. He was a U.S. Naval veteran of World War II, having served on the USS Clermont and participated in the occupation of Japan. He was a native of Convent and resided in Baton Rouge. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Visiting was at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. Visiting in the funeral home chapel from 9 a.m. until memorial services at 2 p.m. Saturday, conducted by Deacon Pete Walsh. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed work and play in equal measure. Survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Yvonne Marie Keating Plaisance; five sons, Michael and wife Laurie Simmons Plaisance, David Plaisance, Randy Plaisance, Don and wife Dawn Anderson Plaisance and Stephen Plaisance; a sister, Eunice P. Laurent and husband Johnny; a brother, Leo "Dick" Plaisance and wife Esther; sisters-in-law, Faye Plaisance and Jacqueline Plaisance; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his grandchildren who were the joy of his life, Aimee Evans, Erin Plaisance, Anna Plaisance, Andrew Plaisance; and a great-grandson, Jake Evans. Preceded in death by his parents, Prosper and Esther Plaisance; and two brothers, Noland Plaisance and Clifford Plaisance. Pallbearers will be Randall Parent, Jason Evans, Eric Anderson, Glenn Plaisance, Russell Plaisance and Milton Brady. Memorial donations may be made to Baton Rouge Alliance for the Mentally Ill, P.O. Yvonne Marie Keating Plaisance, 79, of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 8, 1930, in LaPlace, the daughter of late Albertine Jacob and Henry Keating. She was the youngest of nine siblings. She wed Larry John Plaisance on May 21, 1950, and they supported each other in marriage for 52 years. Yvonne's life was devoted to her family and friends. In her spare time she collected antiques and stamps. She also was an avid researcher of genealogy. She is survived by her sons, Michael Plaisance, David Plaisance, Randy Plaisance, Don Plaisance and daughter-in-law, Dawn Anderson Plaisance, and Stephen Plaisance; grandchildren, Aimee Plaisance and fiancé Nathan Graham, Erin and husband James Templet, Anna Plaisance and Andrew Plaisance; great-grandchildren, Jake Evans and Joshua Templet; many nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Mr. Jack Scardina. Ms. Plaisance was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Plaisance; her parents; brothers, Lawrence Keating I, Henry Keating, Ray Keating and John "Lindy" Keating; sisters, Anita Keating Edler, Mae Keating Lovetro, Grace Keating Falgoust and Lillie Keating Strickland; and a daughter-in-law, Laurie Simmons Plaisance. Visitation at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Monday, Jan. 18, from 10 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at noon, celebrated by the Rev. Jerry Martin. Pallbearers will be Glenn Plaisance, Nathan Graham, Eric Andeson, James Templet, Ronald Hernandez and Andrew Plaisance. Entombment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park on Florida Boulevard. The family would like to thank Ms. Jackie Plaisance Cappe for all of her time and devotion. The family also wishes to express appreciation for the care and compassion shown by Clarity Hospice, especially DeAnna, Dr. Ed Tipton and Dr. Michael Morgan. Yvonne was beloved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. To live in the hearts we leave behind is not to die.
