VICKNAIR, VALMOND M. "COON"
A beloved husband, father and grandfather, he died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2004, in New Orleans. He was 79, a resident of Gonzales and a native of Head of Island. He was a retired boilermaker with Delta Tank and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday and after 8 a.m. Wednesday. Religious service at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Terry Simoneaux. Interment in Maurepas Cemetery. Survived by his wife of 35 years, Belva H. Vicknair, Gonzales; children and spouses, Sharon and Terry Simoneaux, Maurepas, Marilyn and Walter Lafield, Baton Rouge, Charles "Sonny" Sellers, Greensburg, Miss., and Keith and Sandra Sellers and Kenny Sellers, all of Prairieville; two sisters, a brother, 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Louise Vicknair; a foster son, Alton LeBourgeois; three brothers, a sister and an infant sister. Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons. He was a member of American Legion Post 81 and St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales.

Note that Valmond and Belva were married about 1969. He would have been about 45, and she about 44.
